• Federal Courts
Of the several hundred lawyers in the Middle Georgia area, only a relative handful practice regularly in representing clients charged with crimes in Federal Court. This is not because there are not many fine lawyers out there, but because Federal Practice and a thorough knowledge of the United States Sentencing Guidelines is a specialty. If you, a family member, or friend is facing or potentially facing Federal prosecution, make sure to hire an experienced attorney well versed in the intricacies of Federal Criminal Practice. Mr. Green is such an attorney.
After Mr. Green graduated near the top of his class at Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, he was selected from a pool of many top graduates throughout the country for a prestigious two-year clerkship to United States District Court Judge Wilbur D. Owens, Jr. During the course of this clerkship Mr. Green gained valuable experience and insight to the federal court system in both criminal and civil cases on a daily basis. Of particular note, Mr. Green’s Federal Clerkship began shortly after the United States Sentencing Guidelines were adopted. As
a result, Mr. Green gained a thorough and extensive knowledge of the Federal Guidelines as new issues were decided by the court on regular basis. During his clerkship, Mr. Green gained more experience with the Federal Guidelines than most attorneys would gain in many years of practice.
As a result of his experience gained from said clerkship, Mr. Green began representing clients charged with offenses in Federal Court immediately and has continued to do so for the past twenty four years. In fact, Mr. Green’s first criminal jury trial, was a case which lasted over two weeks in Federal Court.
If you, a loved one, or friends are facing potential criminal prosecution, call Mr. Green.
• Courts of the State of Georgia
Mr. Green has extensive experience in representing clients charged with felonies in the Superior Courts, as well as clients charged with misdemeanors in the State, Probate and Municipal Courts throughout Georgia.
Felonies
All felony charges are serious and conviction can have serious implications. Whether a person is guilty or innocent they have certain rights which must be properly protected and good legal representation is a must.
Misdemeanors
Many people make the mistake of thinking misdemeanor charges are not serious and make the further mistake of trying to handle them without legal representation. However, it is important to know that certain misdemeanor convictions can cause a person to forever lose the right to own, use, or possess a firearm. Such a conviction forever deprives a person the ability to hunt, shoot recreationally, or most importantly to protect themselves or their family with a firearm. Also, such a conviction would preclude certain types of employment such as law enforcement, military or security related careers.
Certain misdemeanor drug or alcohol and even traffic offenses can cause the loss of a person’s driver’s license and result in an extreme hardship in gaining or keeping employment. This is even more so when the person charged is under the age of 21 or 18. However, there are things which can be done to lessen or eliminate the harsh results in these type cases in many instances. Before handling your case yourself or simply paying the ticket, call Mr. Green first and know your rights!
Probate
If you do not have a valid will when you die, the state determines who gets your estate as well as in what shares. You run the risk of not only leaving someone out, but also of leaving something to someone you wish not to, or in a greater or smaller shares than you intended. If you do not have a will or have recently married, divorced, or had a child, call Mr. Green about getting your will done today! Many young people think they do not have enough assets to worry about a will but do not realize that the will can also designate who takes care of any minor children in the event of death.
Worker’s Compensation
Workers’ compensation insurance is a mandated benefit system designed to protect employees who are injured on the job. However, in exchange for these benefits the injured worker forfeits his right to sue his employer. While injured employees who accept workers’ compensation insurance benefits aren’t permitted to sue their employers, they may still sue negligent third parties who are directly or indirectly responsible for their injuries.
What usually qualifies for Workers’ Compensation?
Aggravation of a pre-existing injury
• Injuries that occur during a company event or outing
• Injuries that occur on company property
• Injuries caused by poor working conditions
• Injuries resulting from the physical or mental stress of the job
• Other injuries occurred while on the job
